Cognitive Hypnotherapy
WHAT IS COGNITIVE HYPNOTHERAPY?
Cognitive Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic approach that aims to help you change unhelpful, self-limiting thought patterns, so you can respond to situations in a different way.
It does this by bringing awareness to underlying beliefs and helping to gently shift them. It combines ideas from cognitive and psychological therapies with hypnosis — a state in which you can become more aware of your thoughts, feelings and automatic responses.

HOW YOU WILL EXPERIENCE HYPNOSIS
Hypnotic trance is much more ordinary than people expect. You remain aware and in control, but you're guided into a state of focused attention and relaxation.
You may already experience something similar in everyday life. You’ve probably driven somewhere familiar and suddenly realised you've arrived without remembering every turn or become so absorbed in a book or film that you've completely lost track of time. These are examples of naturally occurring states of focused attention.
Cognitive Hypnotherapy uses a similar principle deliberately. Think of it as opening communication between the conscious and unconscious parts of the brain.
As well as helping you understand where negative thoughts and emotions come from, it helps align these two parts of your brain with a clear message about the changes you want to make.
HOW YOUR BRAIN PROCESSES INFORMATION
Our sensory systems process millions of bits of information every second. This is far too much for the brain to consciously process, so our unconscious relies on shortcuts and patterns to make the world easier to navigate and predict.
The problem is that these are often based on primal drives for survival and social acceptance, rather than being happy or achieving our dreams. So, while the conscious part of your brain can know all it needs to make the changes you want, the unconscious is working hard to keep you ‘safe’ by repeating tried and tested thought and behaviour patterns.
