aN EVIDENCE BASED APPROACH

In 2011, Quest Cognitive Hypnotherapy (QCH) began an innovative study to explore how effective its therapeutic approach could be in helping people experiencing anxiety and depression. A group of QCH practitioners took part, with their clients’ progress measured using the same clinical tools adopted by the NHS to assess the effectiveness of psychological therapies.

The results, published in the Mental Health Review Journal in 2015, were remarkable. The study analysed outcomes from 118 clients and found that 71% achieved recovery, with many experiencing significant improvement in as little as four therapy sessions. For comparison, published recovery rates for established therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) averaged around 42% when measured using equivalent clinical measures.

These findings suggest that QCH may offer an effective and time-efficient approach for people struggling with anxiety and depression, with many clients experiencing meaningful change in just a small number of sessions.
